I've been busy today listing these new asymmetrical posts and other new items on my website in advance of my big early bird holiday sale, which starts tomorrow! This is two pairs of Perfect Posts in sterling silver, in different stages of being made. On the left is a mostly finished pair just waiting for their backs. On the right is two little melted balls of recycled silver. Next these will get hammered into the little round flat discs like the ones on the left, and then heated up again with the torch to solder on the post backs. All of the metal I use is either recycled or ethically sourced to begin with, but this design takes it one step further by being made from scraps that have been reworked yet again here in my studio. Jewelers always end up with little bits of scrap metal left over from various pieces, I love having a use for it. #sustainableisbeautiful #simplejewelry #madeinvermont

This is me making pasta today with my Emmett. I know thanksgiving resolutions are not a thing, but don't you think they should be? I am resolving to try to live in this thankfulness a little bit every day. There are just too many people and things for me to be grateful for to able to do it properly in just one day. The older I get the more I realize how short or just plain unpredictable life can be. . . And these days have been good days.

Starting tonight we will be roasting and toasting everything in sight. 🍾🍗I love cooking and I love entertaining, so Thanksgiving is really my jam. I had trouble sleeping last night because I was excited about all the fun dinners we have planned for the next three days. Tonight I am doing a cooking basics lesson for an old old friend who has decided it's time to learn how to cook. And then we'll feed everything we make to our families. How fun is that? And my mood is even better because today is my first day off since I dunno, maybe weekend before last. So I am celebrating by scrubbing and decorating my house so that it is company ready. It is very satisfying.

I am home again and happy with my boys after one extra night away because of the snow. Only one more full studio day and then it's time to cook up a storm! Craft Vermont is wrapping up soon, and I'm looking around at this whole booth and its walls and shelves and thinking about how it all has to get back into my car. Anyone who's done a show like this knows those end of show pack up blues. It's hard to tell what's going on in this picture, but this was me the day before the show, in my bedroom, figuring out how to hang shelves where there are no walls by hanging a rope shelf from our bed frame. Seriously, you have to be like MacGyver to build a craft show booth, and also again to get it taken apart and fit into your station wagon. Thanks again to everyone who came out in this weather! And FYI for those of you in a different part of the world, it's snowing like crazy here! Vermonters are so tough. MacGyver tough. ❤️❤️❤️

Friend hugging and wine drinking weekend in Brooklyn was a complete success. We even through in a trip to the Met and a walk through Central Park to balance it out. Sometimes a little human connection is just what the doctor ordered. My main plan for the day was to hide in my studio, or possibly under a rock, and process and do a lot of wallowing. But children needed to eventually be picked up from school, and library books had to be returned. And I ended up having the nicest long talk with the librarian of our tiny library. We mutually agreed we weren't ready to talk about the election but talked about so much else, little life things and I actually left there feeling a little bit better. • • This pic: a process shot from today in the studio. Working on the new designs I drew in bed on Sunday morning, back when the world was sane.
I am really struggling this morning, as I know a lot of you are. Feeling heartbroken at the thought that maybe, in a macro sense in this world, love doesn't trump hate, and love doesn't trump fear. And while right now I feel powerless about the state of the world at large, in my own personal universe, and how I hold tight to my people, I am going to make damn sure love wins. Spread a little love today my friends. We all need it.

I have recently become fixated on all of the changes I want to make around my house and studio, and it is a struggle not to drop everything and go buy paint. Maybe it is the change of seasons? Does this kind of thing happen to you? This is our bedroom, and while I still love the color, I am desperate to lighten it up. Current color crush is #pavilliongray from @farrowandball. Not really available around here, but a girl can dream. Anyone have any quick fix up suggestions to help stave off the renovation craving for a while?
