The Songyard

The Songyard is a super adorable Waldorf inspired drop-in play space, and it is in my little hometown of Chester, VT!  I feel so lucky to have it.  And, it is above Moondog coffee shop, so you can grab a coffee (maybe a cookie) and take your kid upstairs to play.  It is especially great in these long winter months when the littles start to bounce off the walls!  They also have lots of cute classes and playgroups that I haven't yet made it to, but I will as soon as E. Bean gives up his 1st nap and we'll have our mornings free to roam around.  Also Domenica, the owner, bakes fresh rolls during each playgroup and then the kids all eat one with fresh applesauce.  I love the atmosphere in here, it is composed of mainly natural wood play-scapes and toys with little pops of animals and bright magical creatures everywhere.  It's really very cute.  These pictures don't really do it justice because it was pretty dark outside, so the lighting wasn't ideal.  But I've been meaning to put up a post about it for at least a month, so here it is!

  2. I've been there as well and it's magical. Domenica has created something of great worth in a very simple and meaningful way. The aesthetic choices of color, shape, contrast, texture, light, beautiful materials and wonderful crafting affect the way the tiny children relate to their environment. When I was there, I watched children play with wonder and care. They did not "trash" their space because there was no "trash" in their space. They played with the same imagination, love and dignity that went into creating the SongYard. If you've not visited this special little world, put it on your list. It's worth the trip.
