Truckformer IPhone App - Emmett's Pick of the Week

Emmett is completely obsessed with an Iphone app called Truckformer.  So much so that neither of us can take our phones out in his presence without either tears or some pretty aggressive misdirection.  We originally got it for a cross country flight, but now it definitely has come back to bite us in the ass.  It just has very clear pictures of a few kinds of vehicles, like a school bus, a fire engine, with very minimal animation, and a few sound effects.  He's bananas for it.  We've created a monster.

New Online Shop Coming Soon: Sneak Peek!

Hey Psst!  I'm setting up an online shop with a real shopping cart and everything!  It will eventually (hopefully soon!) be integrated with my website, but it may go up "in preview" first before the whole site reorganization is done.  I'm so excited!  Here are some outtakes from yesterday's product shoot for the new shop.

Snowshoeing, emphasis on SNOW. . .

So we got ambitious yesterday and decided to go snowshoeing, dragging the baby behind us in a sled.  It was WAY harder than we expected, and the baby pretty much hated it.  The snow is about 3 feet deep, with 2 inches of powder on top of about 2 inches of icy crust, on top of another 2.5 ish feet of soft snow.  So you have to lift you knees way up, punch through the crust, push down through the powder, repeat.  We had big ambition about making it up the hill for a view, but basically ended up doing a small circuit around our outer yard, then giving up.  However, it was nice to get a slight change of viewpoint (from that of what I see looking out the kitchen window) and I got a few pictures that I think are cool.  I love the simplicity of winter pictures, there's often only 2 or 3 colors in the whole landscape.

Haven

I must take a minute to say thank you to Heather and Jennifer, my two generous hostesses-with-the-mostesses on my recent extended trip to Brooklyn.  Staying with the two of you made my trip so cozy and comfortable, I can't say thank you enough for opening up your beautiful apartments to me!  Hopefully you will come visit us in Vermont soon and I can get a chance to return the favor.  These photos are from Heather's serene spare room only, because sadly my camera battery died before I moved over to Jennifer's, or there would be pictures of her super stylish Williamsburg apartment as well!  Thanks a million ladies!

The Songyard

The Songyard is a super adorable Waldorf inspired drop-in play space, and it is in my little hometown of Chester, VT!  I feel so lucky to have it.  And, it is above Moondog coffee shop, so you can grab a coffee (maybe a cookie) and take your kid upstairs to play.  It is especially great in these long winter months when the littles start to bounce off the walls!  They also have lots of cute classes and playgroups that I haven't yet made it to, but I will as soon as E. Bean gives up his 1st nap and we'll have our mornings free to roam around.  Also Domenica, the owner, bakes fresh rolls during each playgroup and then the kids all eat one with fresh applesauce.  I love the atmosphere in here, it is composed of mainly natural wood play-scapes and toys with little pops of animals and bright magical creatures everywhere.  It's really very cute.  These pictures don't really do it justice because it was pretty dark outside, so the lighting wasn't ideal.  But I've been meaning to put up a post about it for at least a month, so here it is!
