A little behind the scenes look into what I'm working on in my studio today. The top pic is me getting ready to solder the first of a small army of Teardrop Bangles earlier today, and the Bottom is the finished bangle army. When this order is complete in a couple of weeks it will be headed to The Clay Pot in Brooklyn! (@cpjewelry) Hooray!

I've been thinking a lot about community recently. And I feel so lucky to be a part of an amazing community of makers, both here on Instagram, and here in Vermont. Nothing says happy Easter like an (accidental) golden egg selfie!! The big whirlwind of Easter basket and egg hunt and candy adrenaline has just started to calm down! Dang that is intense! Cute, but nuts! Now on to the cooking and the friends and the Pimm's Cups portion of the event!! I hope you all are having a lovely weekend, wether you are celebrating or just relaxing. And if you are not celebrating, I advise you to stay away from all children today, for your own safety! They are likely to be jacked on sugar and completely unpredictable!

Taking the weekend off to spend with my little family. On deck this weekend, besides the obligatory 40 degree wet Vermont egg hunt, is the baby animal festival at Billings Farm in Woodstock, and then lunch at @worthykitchen with some friends. We have no nearby family at the moment, or we'd be doing lots of that kind of thing. . . What do you all have planned?

So I missed #nationalpuppyday yesterday, because I always miss these things. But I'm doing a belated post, because I think adopting a puppy is an absolutely lovely thing to do, and one of my best decisions ever. This is Miss Olivia, the dowager countess of Haywood Drive. I adopted her as a loud and pushy puppy almost 14 years ago. She's been with me through 8 years of life in Brooklyn, our move to Vermont, a wedding, and the birth of 2 new family members, and she has handled it all with humor and aplomb. She is mostly retired now from all her doggy duties, and just mostly sleeps all day, and is currently snoring next to me in my studio. But that's ok. The elementary school roof at kid pick up today. Emmett goes to the same elementary school that I went to, which I think is pretty amazing. 12 years in NYC and I still ended up right here again. Must be I like this place. Vermont is a pretty great place, after all. A great place to be a maker, and a great place to be a little kid. Also a great place to leave at some point, possibly in your 20's so you don't go crazy with boredom! #vermont #vermontmaker #ilovermont

It ain't easy lookin' this good every day when I go to work, but somebody's gotta do it. No seriously. One of the things I love most about working from my home studio, alone, is that I can wear what my friend @hogolite calls "art girl" outfits every day. Some combination of layers of pajamas, cozy knits, a sweatshirt maybe, and some leggings. What do you other creatives wear in your studios? Any other pajama confessions you'd like to share?

I almost never bake. Seriously. It's way too precise for me. I like to be able to wing it when I cook, and you just can't do that with baking. But I also love biscuits. And there's no other way to get them. And it's a fun project to do with little boys. So this morning we made the @smittenkitchen biscuits, and they turned out pretty delicious!

This big picture window in front of our kitchen counter with its tree filled view is one of my favorite parts of our home. And it was one of the biggest quality of life improvements after moving out of our Brooklyn apartment with its dark little galley kitchen. Which I guess is a good thing, considering how much more cooking we do here, and how much less eating out!🌱☀️💙

This weekend I finally truly embraced the idea of the babysitter. We got a sitter and went out to a leisurely grown up dinner last night. And today we all went up to @bromleymountain, and on a whim I dropped Ellery off in the daycare there for a couple of hours so that I could take a few runs of spring skiing while the two other boys took a lesson. Then we all reconvened for some hang time with friends in the sun on the lodge deck. I think we all had a great weekend, filled with some age appropriate fun for all, and feel refreshed and, well, like we had a weekend! Amazing.

Took a few minutes in the late morning to do some exploring outside with my 2 year old. This mushroomy stump was one of our finds. He is rediscovering the outside world now that everything is melting. It's probably been winter for him for as long as he can remember. I love this time of year, when us Vermonters crawl out of our homes, squinting like mole people, to park our pale selves in a sheltered sunny spot for a few minutes to soak up some much needed vitamin D and fresh air. #nofilter
