Emmett's Pick of the Week - Duplos!!

Here is Emmett's current favorite baby product:

Even though he is only 1 Emmett LOVES to play with his Lego Duplos.  He can't put them together yet, but he loves to pull them apart.  He tries to make them stick together just by placing them on each other, which just kills me, because of course they just fall right apart.  But he doesn't seem to mind.  He'll get there eventually.  It takes a lot of patience to be a baby!

Jewelry Making Before and After - Orbit Bracelet

This is the first post in a new blog segment I'm calling "Jewelry Making Before and After."  Basically it consists of a picture or two taken in my studio during the process of making a piece, and one to show the finished product.  This post features the making of a bangle bracelet I'm calling "Orbit," which is headed for the Meredith Gallery of the League of NH Craftsmen.

Here is the Orbit Bracelet waiting to be soldered together.  The black lines are Sharpie marks that I made as guidelines for where to place the solder.

Rockingham Meetinghouse

We went to our friends Brian and Lindsay's beautiful wedding yesterday at the Rockingham Meetinghouse, in Rockingham, VT.  The Meetinghouse was completed in 1801, and is the oldest public building in Vermont which still exists in its original state.  My brother and his wife also got married here.  It is a very unique and beautiful building with no electricity and huge amazing old windows.  Here are some pictures to give you an idea.  I sadly forgot to bring my camera, so I apologize for the phone pictures!

The meetinghouse also has amazing old burial grounds, in which the oldest graves date as far back as 1776.

Awwww, it's Christmas come early!  E. Bean this morning in Hanna Andersson hand-me-down pjs from the cousins.  

New Work for the League of NH Craftsmen

I'm very excited!  I've just recently been accepted to the League of New Hampshire Craftsmen!  (Even though we live in Vermont we are close enough to the NH border to qualify)  I'm not 100% sure what membership is going to be all about, but I think it is going to be great!  I'm so glad to have hooked up with a community of craftsmen in our new locale.  So far I have work on exhibit in the Concord Gallery, and am about to send off a shipment headed to the Meredith Gallery early next week.  Here are a few pics of the work I made for my jury session with the League.

I really enjoyed getting back into making one of a kind pieces.  I haven't really done much of that since I was in school because I've been so focused on my wholesale business.  I am so excited to have an outlet for this type of work so I can keep making it!

I took these photos on a recent family trip to Cape Cod.  I love the beach in the fall.  It is so quiet and melancholy.  Of course, I love the beach in the summer too, when it is hot and lovely, and much much better for swimming!  

We take what we can get, right?
